The dual overhead cam (DOHC) V-6 in the 2010 E-Class is both efficient and exhilarating. It commands 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of peak torque to keep your adrenaline flowing.

Continuously variable timing on both the intake and exhaust valves coupled with a dual-stage intake manifold helps the DOHC V-6 provide 100% of its peak torque from 2,400-5,000 rpm, ensuring immediate response with every throttle input.

Engines

We go to extraordinary lengths to produce the special driving experience offered by the E-Class.

The E 350 4MATIC™, for example, has a V-6 engine that produces 258 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, giving you plenty of power to get the most out of everyday driving. Performance goes a step further on the E 550 4MATIC™ with its V-8 engine. The key data: 5.5-litre displacement, 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The result: a sublime driving experience, whatever the situation. Thanks to a lower final drive ratio, we were able to lower the engine speed level – and with it, the noise level.

The top-of-the-line E-Class engine is the high-performance AMG power plant in the E 63 AMG. It provides 518 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque and rockets the vehicle to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds. There is no more exciting way to take to the open road than in the E 63 AMG.

Interior

An atmosphere of total comfort is standard in the E-Class – thanks in no small part to the THERMATIC automatic climate control system, which allows front seat occupants to select temperature levels to suit their own individual requirements. The advanced THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control system allows separate temperature control in four different zones. Furthermore, humidity and pollutants are monitored by a sensor and, if necessary, THERMOTRONIC automatically switches to recirculation mode.

Technology made up of active safety features like the “control and display” concept, minimize distractions from the road. Systems that provide support in critical situations and alert the driver to potential hazards – such as our Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and integrated Brake Assist (BAS) system – are cornerstones of the safety design. The vehicle’s safety technology activates in the event of danger, including anytime evasive steering manoeuvering is detected, and it takes precautionary measures to reduce the risk of injury to occupants. But thanks to Active Bi-Xenon headlamps, you will now be able to detect obstacles earlier than previously possible.

Should an accident be unavoidable, the advanced technology is quick to react, offering protection for your own vehicle and for others, including a high-strength safety cell, adaptive front air bags, side-impact air bags, pelvic air bags, a driver’s knee air bag, head protection curtains, the crash responsive NECK-PRO front head restraints, and more.
