2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

For 2011, the Mercedes-Benz R-Class in Montreal has been completely revamped. The entire front end was redesigned to look more like the sedans and SUVs in Mercedes’ lineup. Almost everything up front, including the grille, bumper, hood, fenders and headlights, has been updated. The rest of the design changes consist of new side mirrors, revamped wheel designs, a revised rear bumper cover, integrated exhaust pipes and LED taillights. A set of LED running lights and bi-xenon headlights are optional up front.

Mercedes is offering two engine choices for the R-Class: a 3.5-liter gasoline V6 or a 3.0-liter diesel V6. The gas engine still pumps out 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the diesel V6 offers up 210 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on both models, as is a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the spacious cabin has always been one of the best aspects of the original R-Class. For 2011, Mercedes added some new materials and color combinations to give the R-Class a fresh look. Walnut trim is standard, but you can opt for eucalyptus. Options will include adaptive cruise control, an adjustable air suspension, a blind-spot warning system and, of course, 20-inch wheels and tires.
